ExaMachs in Euphoria or Despair

2010 SPM result out today. Scores of ExaMachs can be seen in school around 10 am. Buzzing and cheeping all the way from the canteen to the staff room signalling the return of the ex-Jitsin ExaMachs of cohort 2006 and some which I had taught them in form 3 in 2006 (like Zi Yang - who had successfully conquered the sciences). For the result's detail (this blog does not highlight the results as I am not interested in them), see other blogs like www.bumigemilang.com
Whew! You are hot --- so many As! Even the teachers are smiling

Count and tally ho! Correctly huh! Mr Tor is worrying about the next batch of Form 6 - going to be of quality or not?

Savioury saliva

Analysing amylase activity
Harvesting their own saliva for Biology experiment today, most of the students are extremely careful not to give out too little less it will affect their work. Many found out that thier enzymes are too strong thus needed to be diluted.

Two Eyes Open Microscope Work

Finally, they open their eyes for the microscope. Whew!
See, finally who said cannot open both eyes to see through a monocular microscope?

Ducks in the River

Jit Sin is blessed with a beautiful river that flows at the back of the school. I happened to notice a flock of ducks (or I first thought were egrets or herons) swimming in the river . It is actually a beautiful natural sight but my camera fail to capture it as I was at the Form 6 Bio Lab.

Acting and Search again

As part of the action research, one had to observe the interested ones and the bored already learner. Also note the suffering the pregnant teacher had to endure. As a final act of kindness, why don't we had a quiz on Friday hoh!

These are what is meant by Action mah! OOPS! wrong interpretation of Action Research.. but who cares?
Yesterday I got a chance to bore the teachers of Form 6 in the topic of Action Research. A fun way to get all the teachers to listen to me. Will give them quiz on Friday.

The Rabbit Hopped In Cautiously

New Rabbit Year Celebration
Bugs Bunny hopped in cautiously as the Tiger had yet to leave for the Kiasu ExaMachs as all these years where the CNY celebration was held earlier.
New Lion takes to life too, so maybe it will protect the pitiful rabbit. Many Ang Pows walking around and teaching in classes too.. oh my! what a painful sight!

Ang Mo Lan in Jit Sin

After the SpongeBob attack, what next?
The Ang Mo Lang Attack!

New Decade New Looks

As the second decade of 2K begins, all male jitsin students (F1 to F5 and some say even F6) begin to wear a new hair style ... a neat short (No 2) cut hair.

What is the reason for this policy? Well, many speculative reasons were formulated by the ExaMachs debate team and among them are
  1. To save cost since prices of most things had risen (hair gel)
  2. Hair is insulating (great bio teacher once said) so a shorter one give a thinner insulator so that heat energy can escaped from the scalp as the brain generated answers after answers needed to be great ultimate Jitsin's ExaMach
  3. Good for sports such as athletics, football, swimming, basketball as most of the great sportsmen wear their hair short such as Wayne Rooney, Usain Bolt (pic)
  4. To avoid intraspecific competition between the males (as hairstyle is one of the tools to attract female) since the population of females in the school had risen
Definite not the reasons for this policy
  1. To lessen the work of the discipline teachers because (a) very difficult to recognize students from the back and (b) the skill of cutting hair experiences after many years will be wasted for the discipline teachers
  2. No partnership between JS with any barber shops or barber in BM (and also not because Jit Sin is going to offer the new SPM course on Penjagaan Muka dan Dandanan Rambut)

Graduation Day 2010

Today marks the Graduation Day 2010. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera, so many pictures that I can take with my miserable phone.

Started at 8:30 and ended before 12:00 noon.

Same ceremonial functions, just changed the students.

But it must be a memorial day for those involved.

Congratulations

New outlook for Staff Room

My new desk
Beginning next year, hoperully, we will be looking at a new outlook for the staff room, now that the administration office had been fully furnished.

New desk, new chair and every thing new ... most probably sponsored by all the ex students.. so wait for the donation forms ...

High School

View of BM High School

Attended the Colloquium for Teachers teaching Form 6 on Saturday 30 October 2010. I had never really been to High School even though it was our rival school in Rugby way back in the Eighties. Old school building but does not have any aura of its past - not like my alma mater.

D-Day Tomorrow

Remembering my quote
"My job is to fail you, Your job is to pass"

Fair - right?

So, its D-day for the Lower Six tomorrow. Good luck to all of you :)

Action Research Course in BTPN

Attended a course in Action Research Course in BTPN in Pokok Sena Kepala Batas. This course is conducted for all Form 6 teachers. Spent the whole days there. Boring, well, it got broad band connection so I can still play with my computer, yeah!

Never really into action research, lazy research for people who want to call themselves researchers..
