Can Teen Day?

Can or Can't Teen do business leh? Well, with the whole school presence (suspected because of cocuricullum marks and also the coupons) the whole canteen is crowded with teachers and students buying food (quality wise okay lo) by 8:30 am.

Teachers are allowed to wear casual T-shirts and students in their school T shirts can be see queuing up to play 'games'. I had always wonder what game is so nice to play in a dark classroom.

The day ends with the lucky draw which I as usual do not get. The students were dismissed at 12:00 but the teachers still had to go back at 1:20 pm.

Interesting article in BBC News (SciTech section) about how close we are to our distant cousins. It also put a foot into the mouth of the opponents of evolution.

Today are UB2 and 7 of UBP turns to be the rat killer. Unfortunately, we got 4 rats missing (technically) so some of them had to share the rat. One casualty though, for Sinyi eagerly nearly sacrifice her hand for the rat. Blood for blood as they said.

The gruesome killing of the rats beats watching the series Hannibal. Never will we imagine that ExaMachs can be that cruel even though they hide behind their masks.

Cloning of Human Stem Cell

Image of stem cell taken from
http://www.newscientist.com
It is reported in Reuters (Science) webpage (http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/05/16/us-science-stemcells-idUSBRE94E0V220130516), that after 15 years of trying, biologists lead by Shoukhrat Mitalipov of Oregon Health & Science University and the Oregon National Primate Research Center, uses unfertilized human eggs to grow the stem cells (what is stem cell?)

The team transplanted genetic material from an adult cell into an egg whose own DNA had been removed. This technique is similar to the one used to create Dolly the sheep - the first cloned sheep in 1996. This scientific breakthrough will now accelerates research of stem cells

The House Opens For CNY

It is about 12:30 pm that the first call of "Sir! Sir!" was heard outside my gate and there came at first 4 of the 2007 batch. Led by Ah Beng, one can hear the chattering of two beautiful voices of Visakha and Ming Ming  mainly arguing with Ah Beng. And the silent and calm, Tze Hou will follow at the back.
(Standing L to R) Yen Yee, Min Min, Visakha, Xin Yin, Boon Nie and (Seated L to R) Yong Beng, mycikgu, Tze Hou
